The Museum of Ladislav Novomestsky was built in the green surroundings of the Senica city park situated northeast from the city centre. The building was built to display the life and personality of Ladislav Novomesky as a politician, editor of the DAV magazine and poet who spent his youth in the town of Senica.
Architect Peter Brtko designed the museum as a solitary cubus with a symmetrical composition. The archetype of the square is applied in the 18 x 18 m plan, on the façade and in the interior. The building is partly two-storeyed. In the spatial scheme, the vertical entrance vestibule meets the horizontal space of the exhibition area. These are connected by a straight staircase and an artistically designed lighting fixture hanging from the ceiling. The building was constructed within the framework of action "Z" with a limited investment cost of up to 2 million Kčs. For this reason, the internal space was supplemented only by a small screening room with a capacity of 45 seats and the necessary sanitary and operational facilities. The character of the work is mainly determined by the high glass mass of the vestibule. The façade, articulated by a fine grid of columns and window profiles, creates a monumental impression of the building, despite its modest dimensions.
The museum's forecourt with a statue of Ladislav Novomestsky is the result of an architectural and sculptural competition held in 1983. It was realised by the winning team consisting of sculptor Ján Kulich and architects Karol Brna and Branislav Kulich. The building underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2022 and serves as a café under the name DAV.
