Postal and telecommunication building is a part of the structure of higher public facilities situated in connection with the main communication axis of the center of the Petržalka part Ovsište. We can perceive its simple prismatic volume as the result of modern abstraction, but at the same time, in the sense of Venturi's postmodern interpretation, it can also be understood as a sign referring to its function. The post office is then a large package with traces of enfolding in each corner. The subtle horizontal red aluminum lamellas underlined the impression of a compact package or mailbox. These lamellas gave the building its name, the Red Post-office. The symbolic effect of the compact red building was also applied in the broader context of a housing estate determined by the structure of small window openings of apartment buildings, where the post office served as an important landmark. The building was rebuilt in 2011.The red lamellas and the large-scale inscription Post-office on the entrance façade were removed and, with a trivial color scheme, the original appearance of this iconic building was negated.
