Balneotherapy constituted a significant typology of spa complexes. Such facilities were built in locations that utilized mineral water for therapeutic purposes and also offered various specialized treatments, such as wraps, massages, or rehabilitative exercises. During the postwar development of the spa industry, the Bardejov Spa was classified as a site of international significance (Category I), leading to extensive investments beginning here at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. Among these was the construction of a balneotherapy facility on the upper edge of the spa complex. This elegant, four-story building with recessed floors has a distinctive horizontal character. Its characteristic appearance is defined by continuous strip windows combined with travertine cladding. The facility provides services to guests from nearby accommodations, and is connected to two of them via a covered above-ground corridor. Despite its extensive interior spaces—including outpatient clinics, hydrotherapy facilities, gyms, and a rehabilitation pool—the building does not appear bulky thanks to its placement on sloping terrain.
