As part of an extensive renovation of the Trenčianske Teplice spa center, a large medical facility for 250 patients offering balneotherapy was built here in the 1970s. Its architectural and urban design concept was based on the zoning plan of the time, in which it completed the composition of buildings between the polyclinic, the hotel, and the sanatorium with its colonnade. The construction of the Krym sanatorium was one of Slovakoterm’s priority projects, which was reflected in its rapid completion and the involvement of several foreign contractors. As with the Veľká Fatra sanatorium in Turčianske Teplice, the architecture of Krym is based on a combination of a base level housing social and therapeutic spaces and a four-story, terraced structure housing the inpatient wing. The building houses bath facilities, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, rehabilitation, inhalation therapy, a sauna, and a thermal pool. The rooms face the terraces on the south facade. Similar to the sanatoriums in Piešťany, the balconies are separated by glass partitions. The structure consists of two wings. The horizontal character of the building was further emphasized by a sloped entrance ramp, which was removed at the end of the first decade of the 21st century. Vertical circulation is located in the sections projecting from the rear facade. In 1976, architect Milan Šavlík was awarded the prize of the Union of Slovak Architects for this work.
