A prominent figure in Slovak architecture. He worked as a practicing architect as well as a theorist, historian, organizer, and educator. He studied architecture in Prague (VUT) and Vienna (TU). He helped establish Stavoprojekt in Slovakia and worked at several architectural and design institutes. From 1964, he was Professor of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VŠVU) in Bratislava. He designed a number of residential and administrative buildings and wrote and published several key monographs on Slovak architecture.
